Q: How do I use the Superfood+ Snack line in recipes?
It doesn’t take much convincing to agree that each flavor in the new Superfood+ snack line of nuts and seeds is truly exceptional straight out of the bag. In the mood for something mildly sweet? Try the Maca Maple Cashews or Goldenberry Ginger Almonds. Have a hankering for something more savory? Grab a scoop of Rosemary Chia Pepitas, or Goji Basil Cashews! But aside from swiping these snacks by the handful, each one of these flavor-rich nutritious munchables is begging to adorn your favorite recipes -- a great way to reinvigorate classic dishes. Here’s how:
Maple Maca Cashews – These crunchy clusters are nice because they aren’t overly sweet, and have a soft creamy-caramel flavor to them. Slightly chopped, they make a ridiculously delicious ice cream, frozen yogurt, or frosty smoothie topping (you can double your superfood power by making one of the easy superfood ice cream recipes on our site, such as this creamy Acai Soft Serve). For a movie night treat, try mixing them into a bag of popcorn – especially a slightly sweetened variety. Chopped finely they’re incredible folded into a batch of oatmeal cookies. And to make an extraordinary beverage, blend a couple tablespoons with a cup of water for a lightly sweet cream that’s outstanding with cereal, stirred into coffee, or slightly warmed and enjoyed straight.
Goldenberry Ginger Almonds – With their tangy, slightly spicy-sweet flavor, these almonds are the perfect match for vegetables of all varieties. Chop up a few and put on a salad made from dark leafy greens and in-season fruit. Speaking of fruit, these almonds are also exceptional when layered amongst a simple ice cream/yogurt parfait with fresh berries. I really enjoy the sprinkled on top of roasted root vegetables too – even the simplest sweet potato becomes instantly special with some Goldenberry Ginger Almonds on top!
Rosemary Chia Pepitas – With their savory, herbed, lightly garlicky flavor, these seeds are wonderful for any dish of Mediterranean origin. Sprinkle some onto a Greek salad, fold these seeds into roasted potatoes, or top your next batch of hummus for an unexpected flavor boost! You can even grind some into your next batch of pesto to upgrade the classic spread.
Goji Basil Cashews - Because their base is cashews highlighted by basil, something remarkable happens here: the goji berries in the recipe taste like sweet cherry tomatoes, making this snack a beautiful Italian medley! Chopped up, these cashews act almost like a flavored cheese, which can be sprinkled on everything from pastas, to pizzas, to grilled vegetables. You can even blend the cashews with a little water to make a paste, and then use it as a flavoring for kale chips!
Whether you eat them as a snack or decide to get more creative, it’s hard not to love these versatile nuts and seeds!« Previous | Next »
